The Commencement of the Great Departure
उत्सृज्याभरणान्यज्राज्जगृहे वल्कलान्युत । भीमार्जुनयमाश्चैव द्रौपदी च यशस्विनी
utsṛjyābharaṇāny ajrāj jagṛhe valkalāny uta | bhīmārjunayamāś caiva draupadī ca yaśasvinī ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: Vứt bỏ mọi đồ trang sức, nhà vua khoác lên mình y phục bằng vỏ cây; Bhīma, Arjuna, Yama (Yudhiṣṭhira) và nàng Draupadī lẫy lừng cũng làm như vậy. Hành động ấy đánh dấu sự đoạn tuyệt có chủ ý với danh phận vương giả và tiện nghi, để chọn đời khổ hạnh khi bước vào cuộc hành trình cuối cùng, thuận theo lý tưởng dharma về sự buông xả ở cuối đời.
