Educational Q&A

In a crisis created by an overwhelming foe, dharma expresses itself as protective leadership: one who has the capacity must become the ‘means of crossing’ for endangered allies, not remain a passive observer.

Sañjaya, narrating the battlefield to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, uses a vivid metaphor: Karṇa is like a deep, dangerous ocean, and the Pāñcāla warriors are drowning without any raft. He urges the addressed ‘Bhārata’ to act as a boat and save them.
