Karna’s Suppression of the Panchala–Somaka Forces
ततो भीम: शरशतैर्दुर्योधनममर्षणम् । विमुखीकृत्य तरसा गजानीकमुपाद्रवत्,उस समय भीमसेनने सैकड़ों बाणोंकी मारसे अमर्षशील दुर्योधनको युद्धसे विमुख करके हाथियोंकी उस सेनापर वेगपूर्वक आक्रमण किया
tato bhīmaḥ śaraśatair duryodhanam amarṣaṇam | vimukhīkṛtya tarasā gajānīkam upādravat ||
Sañjaya nói: Rồi Bhīma, bắn hàng trăm mũi tên vào Duryodhana nóng nảy, buộc hắn phải quay mặt khỏi cuộc chiến, liền lao tới với tốc độ dữ dội và xông đánh đoàn tượng binh ấy. Sự việc này nêu bật đà tàn khốc của bổn phận chiến sĩ (kṣātra-dharma): làm tê liệt một địch thủ chủ chốt trở thành khe hở chiến thuật để phá vỡ đội hình quân thù, trong khi giận dữ và kiêu mạn lại đẩy các chiến binh lún sâu hơn vào bạo lực.
