Prelude to Karṇa’s Slaying
अपरे कृष्यमाणाश्रन विचेष्टन्तो महीतले । भावान् बहुविधांश्वक्रुस्ताडिता: शरतोमरै:
apare kṛṣyamāṇāś ca viceṣṭanto mahītale | bhāvān bahuvidhāṁś cakrus tāḍitāḥ śaratomaraiḥ ||
Sañjaya thưa: Những con ngựa khác, bị mũi tên và lao phóng (tomara) đánh trúng, bị kéo lê và quằn quại trên mặt đất, bộc lộ đủ mọi vẻ thống khổ và hoảng hốt. Cảnh ấy cho thấy đà tàn bạo của chiến trận, nơi ngay cả những con vật chở người vô tội cũng bị cuốn vào đau đớn bởi bạo lực của các chiến binh.
