कवचोर्मिध्वजावर्ता मर्त्यकूलापहारिणीम् । गजवाजिमहाग्राहामसिमीनां दुरासदाम्
kavacormidhvajāvartā martyakūlāpahāriṇīm | gajavājimahāgrāhām asimīnām durāsadām ||
Sañjaya nói: Drona—bậc đại hùng đầy dũng lực, vững lòng nơi chân thật, uyên bác, cường tráng và anh dũng không suy—đã khiến chiến địa chảy thành một dòng sông máu ghê rợn, tựa như nước của thời đại hủy diệt. Nó làm kẻ nhát gan khiếp vía. Sóng của nó là áo giáp, xoáy nước là cờ xí; nó cuốn phăng cả những bờ bãi bằng thân xác phàm nhân. Voi và ngựa trong đó như những con cá sấu lớn, còn gươm kiếm là cá. Dòng sông ấy khó vượt khôn cùng—một hình tượng cho sức nuốt chửng của chiến tranh, nơi dũng khí và bổn phận bị thử thách giữa cảnh tàn phá ngập trời.
