नारायणास्त्र-शमनं द्रौणि-प्रहारश्च

तथा नष्ट तमो घोरें दीपैर्दीप्तैरितस्ततः । जैसे सूर्यके प्रकाशसे सम्पूर्ण जगत्में फैला हुआ अन्धकार नष्ट हो जाता है, उसी प्रकार इधर-उधर जलती हुई मशालोंसे वहाँका भयानक अँधेरा नष्ट हो गया था
sañjaya uvāca | tathā naṣṭaṃ tamo ghore dīpair dīptair itas tataḥ |
Sañjaya thưa: Như ánh dương xua tan bóng tối lan khắp thế gian, thì cũng vậy, màn u ám ghê rợn nơi ấy bị đẩy lùi bởi những ngọn đuốc bùng cháy được thắp rải rác. Giữa nỗi sợ và cơn hỗn loạn của chiến tranh, ánh sáng vừa là sự che chở thiết thực, vừa là hình tượng của minh triết thắng vượt hiểm nguy.
