Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the catastrophic moral weight of war: once unleashed, it escalates into a force that consumes entire communities (“world-destroying”), reminding the listener that violence rapidly exceeds human control and brings collective ruin.

Sañjaya, reporting to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra, announces that by noon the fighting has intensified into a terrifying, all-consuming battle, and he invites the king to listen as he narrates the ensuing events.
