शरै: परमसंक्रुद्धों यदि श्वेतो न पालयेत् । यदि श्वेत पाण्डव-सेनाकी रक्षा न करते तो भीष्मजी अत्यन्त क़ुद्ध होकर एक ही दिनमें उसे भस्म कर डालते || ४३ ह || पितामहं ततो दृष्टवा श्वेतेन विमुखीकृतम्
śaraiḥ paramasaṅkruddho yadi śveto na pālayet | pitāmahaṃ tato dṛṣṭvā śvetena vimukhīkṛtam ||
Sañjaya nói: “Nếu Śveta không che chở, thì Bhīṣma—bị khơi dậy đến tột cùng cơn thịnh nộ—ắt đã dìm ngập chàng bằng mưa tên. Rồi khi thấy vị tổ phụ Bhīṣma bị Śveta chặn lại và buộc phải lùi bước, cục diện trên chiến địa liền đổi khác.”
