गौरुडव्यूह-रचना तथा अर्धचन्द्र-प्रत्यव्यूह
Garuḍa Array and the Ardhacandra Counter-Formation
एकाल्ा निर्दहेद् भीष्म: पाण्डवानामनीकिनीम्
sañjaya uvāca | ekālaṃ nirdahen bhīṣmaḥ pāṇḍavānām anīkinīm, jighāṃsantaṃ yudhāṃ śreṣṭha tadā āsīt tumulaṃ mahat |
Sañjaya nói: “Tâu Đại vương, Bhīṣma—bậc nhất trong hàng chiến sĩ—tựa như có thể thiêu rụi toàn bộ đạo quân Pāṇḍava chỉ trong một lượt quét. Khi các Pāṇḍava, quyết đánh gục bậc chiến sĩ ưu tú ấy, ào lên chống lại ông, cuộc giao tranh lúc ấy phình to thành một cơn chấn động mênh mông và ghê rợn. Cảnh này nêu bật sự căng thẳng của dharma: dẫu phải đối diện một bậc trưởng thượng đáng tôn kính, bị ràng buộc bởi lời thệ của chính mình, bổn phận nơi chiến địa vẫn thúc cả hai phía vào bạo lực không ngừng, nghiệt ngã và định mệnh.”
