Garuḍa Array and the Ardhacandra Counter-Formation
पातयामास सैन्यानि पाण्डवानां विशाम्पते । प्रहरन््तमनीकानि पिता देवव्रतस्तव
sañjaya uvāca |
pātayāmāsa sainyāni pāṇḍavānāṃ viśāmpate |
praharaṃtamanīkāni pitā devavratas tava |
jighāṃsantaṃ yudhāṃ śreṣṭha tadā sīt tumulaṃ mahat ||
Sañjaya thưa: “Tâu chúa tể loài người (Dhṛtarāṣṭra), phụ vương của ngài, Devavrata (Bhīṣma), đã quật ngã nhiều đạo quân của phe Pāṇḍava. Thấy các đội hình bị công kích, và nhận ra bậc nhất trong hàng chiến sĩ đang nung nấu ý định sát phạt, một cuộc giao tranh lớn lao, hỗn loạn liền dấy lên. Khi Bhīṣma thấy vị tổng chỉ huy Śveta đang đánh phá quân ta, ông lập tức tiến ra nghênh chiến.”
