तमेवमुपलक्ष्यैको हृष्ट: पुष्ट: परंतप
sañjaya uvāca | tam evam upalakṣyaiko hṛṣṭaḥ puṣṭaḥ paraṃtapa | jighāṃsantaṃ yudhāṃ śreṣṭha tadā āsīt tumulaṃ mahat ||
Sañjaya thưa: “Hỡi kẻ thiêu đốt quân thù, thấy cảnh ấy, chỉ riêng Bhīṣma trở nên hân hoan và kiên quyết. Khi bậc nhất trong hàng chiến sĩ ấy, mang ý định sát phạt, tiến lên dồn ép, một cuộc giao tranh lớn lao, hỗn loạn liền nổi dậy. Lời thơ nêu rõ đạo lý chiến trận: một lão tướng bị ràng buộc bởi lòng trung với phe mình—gạt bỏ sợ hãi và luyến tiếc sinh mệnh—lao vào bổn phận khốc liệt, giữa lúc bạo lực của chiến tranh cuộn trào quanh ông.”
