एवं स पाण्डव: क्रुद्ध आत्तमात्तं पुनः पुनः । धनुश्विच्छेद भीष्मस्य सव्यसाची परंतप:
sañjaya uvāca |
evaṃ sa pāṇḍavaḥ kruddha āttamāttaṃ punaḥ punaḥ |
dhanuśvicchedaṃ bhīṣmasya savyasācī parantapaḥ |
atāḍayan raṇe bhīṣmaṃ sahitāḥ sarvasṛñjayāḥ ||
Sañjaya nói: Thế rồi người con của Pāṇḍu, bừng bừng phẫn nộ, hết lần này đến lần khác chém gãy cây cung của Bhīṣma mỗi khi ngài vừa giương lên. Arjuna, bậc xạ thủ thuận tay trái, kẻ thiêu đốt quân thù, đã đánh Bhīṣma trong trận; và toàn thể Sṛñjaya, hợp lực một lòng, từ mọi phía dùng vũ khí ghê gớm mà vây đánh Bhīṣma, nhằm quấy nhiễu và bào mòn ngài giữa những đòi hỏi vừa chính nghĩa vừa tàn phá của chiến tranh.
