एवमुक्तस्तु पार्थेन शिखण्डी भरतर्षभ | शरैर्नानाविधैस्तूर्ण पितामहमवाकिरत्‌,भरतश्रेष्ठ! अर्जुनके ऐसा कहनेपर शिखण्डी तुरंत ही पितामह भीष्मपर नाना प्रकारके बाणोंकी वर्षा करने लगा

evam uktas tu pārthena śikhaṇḍī bharatarṣabha | śarair nānāvidhais tūrṇaṃ pitāmaham avākirat ||

Sañjaya nói: Được Pārtha (Arjuna) nói như thế, Śikhaṇḍī—hỡi bậc trượng phu của dòng Bharata—lập tức trút xuống ông tổ phụ Bhīṣma một trận mưa tên mau lẹ, đủ mọi loại.
