Adhyāya 90: Babhruvāhana’s Reception and the Commencement of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Aśvamedha
सभार्य: सह पुत्रेण सस्नुषस्तपसि स्थित: । बभूव शुक््लवृत्त: स धर्मात्मा नियतेन्द्रिय:
sabhāryaḥ saha putreṇa sasnuṣas tapasi sthitaḥ | babhūva śuklavṛttaḥ sa dharmātmā niyatendriyaḥ ||
Sống cùng vợ, con trai và con dâu, ông vẫn chuyên tâm tu khổ hạnh. Vị Bà-la-môn ấy kiên định trong nếp sống thanh tịnh, lòng đầy chính hạnh, và chế ngự được các căn.
नकुल उवाच
The verse praises dharma grounded in inner discipline: even while living with family, one can pursue tapas, maintain purity of conduct (śuklavṛtta), and restrain the senses (niyatendriya), making ethical self-mastery the basis of righteousness.
Nakula describes a Brahmin who, together with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law, lives in a family setting yet remains devoted to austerity and moral purity, characterized as righteous and self-controlled.
