The verse highlights the moral logic of the epic: when rulership is grounded in adharma, its end comes inevitably, and often publicly. The witnessed fall of the Dhārtarāṣṭra king functions as a warning that power without righteousness cannot endure.
Vāsudeva recounts that in the great battle Bhīmasena, by his valor, slew the Dhārtarāṣṭra king—i.e., Duryodhana—while many other kings looked on, marking the decisive and publicly observed conclusion of Duryodhana’s leadership.
