Brahmopadeśa: Adhipatitva-kathana, Dharma-lakṣaṇa, and Kṣetra–Kṣetrajña Viveka

Book 14, Chapter 43

Educational Q&A

The verse identifies the ‘unmanifest’ (avyakta/Prakṛti) as the kṣetra—the foundational field in which the guṇas arise and into which they dissolve—highlighting a Sāṅkhya-style distinction between the field of nature and the knowing principle that can discern it.

Vāyudeva is speaking and offering a doctrinal clarification: he explains what is meant by ‘kṣetra’ and asserts his continual, inwardly absorbed awareness of the unmanifest basis from which the guṇas emerge and subside.
