Austerity, regulated fasting, residual-eating, and hospitality
नष्ट देवलके दत्तमप्रतिष्ठं च वार्धुषे । यत्तु वाणिजके दत्तं नेह नामुत्र तद् भवेत्
Bhīṣma uvāca: naṣṭaṁ devalake dattam apratiṣṭhaṁ ca vārdhuṣe | yat tu vāṇijake dattaṁ neha nāmutra tad bhavet ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Lễ vật (đặc biệt là lễ vật śrāddha) đem cho kẻ sống bằng nghề phụng sự trong đền miếu thì bị uổng phí. Thứ đem cho kẻ cho vay nặng lãi không cho quả bền chắc. Và bất cứ điều gì đem cho người buôn bán thì không lợi ở đời này cũng chẳng lợi ở đời sau.”
