Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
ततः स कार्तिकेयत्वमवाप परमद्युति: । स्कन्नत्वात् स्कन्दतां चापि गुहावासाद् गुहो&भवत्
tataḥ sa kārtikeyatvam avāpa paramadyutiḥ | skannatvāt skandatāṁ cāpi guhāvāsād guho 'bhavat |
Bhīṣma nói: Từ đó, chàng trai rực rỡ bậc nhất ấy được biết đến với danh xưng Kārtikeya. Vì sinh từ tinh khí đã tràn đổ (skannita), chàng cũng mang tên Skanda; và vì cư ngụ trong hang núi, chàng được gọi là Guha. Bài kệ giải thích rằng danh xưng phát sinh từ nguyên nhân và hạnh trạng, gắn căn tính với nguồn gốc và nếp sống chứ không chỉ là quy ước suông.
