Educational Q&A

The verse frames an ideal social and ethical aspiration: prosperity is not merely material but expressed as continuity of righteous lineage, growth of spiritual radiance (tejas), Vedic learning, and accomplished, meritorious living—presented as a blessing that aligns success with dharma.

Vasiṣṭha is pronouncing a benediction. He wishes that the addressed person’s dependents or followers become worthy progenitors of their family lines, increase the recipient’s glory, and live as Veda-knowing, accomplished individuals—typical of a sage’s blessing in the Anuśāsana Parva’s didactic setting.
