एवं गोशकृतः: पुत्र माहात्म्यं तेडनुवर्णितम् । माहात्म्यं च गवां भूय: श्रूयतां गदतो मम,बेटा! इस तरह मैंने तुमसे गोबरका माहात्म्य बतलाया है। अब पुनः गौओंका माहात्म्य बतला रहा हूँ, सुनो
evaṁ gośakṛtaḥ putra māhātmyaṁ te ’nuvārṇitam | māhātmyaṁ ca gavāṁ bhūyaḥ śrūyatāṁ gadato mama, vatsa ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Hỡi con, như vậy ta đã thuật cho con nghe về sự vĩ đại của vật do bò sinh ra (phân bò). Nay, một lần nữa, hãy lắng nghe khi ta nói về vinh quang còn lớn hơn nữa của chính loài bò.”
