Go-mahātmyam: Pavitrāṇāṃ Pavitraṃ
Cows and Ghee as Supreme Purifiers
प्रजा: सृजेति चादिष्ट: पूर्व दक्ष: स्वयम्भुवा । असृजद् वृत्तिमेवाग्रे प्रजानां हितकाम्यया
prajāḥ sṛjeti cādiṣṭaḥ pūrvaṃ dakṣaḥ svayambhuvā | asṛjad vṛttim evāgre prajānāṃ hitakāmyayā ||
Bhīṣma nói: Thuở ban sơ, Dakṣa được Svayambhū—Đấng Tự Sinh, Đấng Sáng Tạo—truyền lệnh: “Hãy tạo dựng muôn loài.” Nhưng vì mong mỏi phúc lợi cho chúng sinh, Dakṣa trước hết đã thiết lập phương kế sinh nhai cho họ, rồi mới tiến hành việc sinh thành nòi giống—ngụ ý rằng trị quốc và kiến lập phải khởi đầu từ việc bảo đảm miếng ăn và an lạc.
