भीष्म उवाच अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम्‌ । यथापृच्छत्‌ पद्मयोनिमेतदेव शतक्रतु:

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | atrāpy udāharantīmam itihāsaṃ purātanam | yathāpṛcchat padmayonim etad eva śatakratuḥ |

Translation

Bhīṣma đáp: “Chính về đề tài này, bậc học giả thường dẫn một điển tích cổ xưa. Cũng như thuở nọ Śatakratu (Indra) đã nêu chính câu hỏi ấy với Padmayoni (Brahmā), nay việc ấy cũng thích hợp để nói ra.”
