गवां लोकवर्णनं तथा गोप्रदानफलश्रुतिः

Description of the ‘World of Cows’ and the Stated Fruits of Cow-Gift

कल्मषं गुरुशुश्रूषा हन्ति मानो महद्‌ यश: । अपुत्रतां त्रय: पुत्रा अवृत्तिं दश धेनव:

kalmaṣaṁ guruśuśrūṣā hanti māno mahad yaśaḥ | aputratāṁ trayaḥ putrā avṛttiṁ daśa dhenavaḥ ||

Bhīṣma nói: “Phụng sự và kính cẩn vâng lời bậc trưởng thượng cùng thầy dạy sẽ diệt trừ vết nhơ và tội lỗi. Nhưng kiêu mạn lại làm tiêu tan cả danh tiếng lớn. Người ta nói ba người con trai có thể xua đi nỗi bất hạnh của kẻ vô tự, và mười con bò đang cho sữa có thể xua đi cảnh khốn khó vì thiếu kế sinh nhai—bởi vậy, khiêm cung và tận tụy phụng sự được ca ngợi như chỗ nương giữ gìn cả đức hạnh lẫn sự ổn định ở đời.”
