नतासां रक्षणं शक््यं कर्तु पुंसां कथंचन
natāsāṃ rakṣaṇaṃ śakyaṃ kartuṃ puṃsāṃ kathaṃcana
Bhīṣma nói: “Không có cách nào để đàn ông có thể bảo hộ trọn vẹn cho những kẻ đã quy phục và phó thác mình dưới sự chăm nom của người khác. Lời ấy nêu lên một sự thật đạo lý nghiêm khắc: chỉ bằng nỗ lực và thiện ý của con người, nhiều khi vẫn không đủ để bảo đảm an toàn khi một người đã hoàn toàn lệ thuộc; vì thế phải hành xử với lòng khiêm cung, sự cảnh giác và ý thức trách nhiệm, chứ không được tự phụ.”
