Viśvāmitra-janma: Ṛcīka–Satyavatī–Gādhi and the Charu Exchange (विश्वामित्र-जन्म: ऋचीक–सत्यवती–गाधि वृत्तान्तः)
भर्त्रा य एष दत्तस्ते चरु्मन्त्रपुरस्कृत: । एनं प्रयच्छ महां त्वं मदीयं त्वं गृहाण च,“तुम्हारे पतिने जो मन्त्रपूत चरु तुम्हारे लिये दिया है, वह तुम मुझे दे दो और मेरा चरु तुम ले लो
bhartrā ya eṣa dattaste carur mantrapuraskṛtaḥ | enaṃ prayaccha mahāṃ tvaṃ madīyaṃ tvaṃ gṛhāṇa ca ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Phần lễ vật cháo cúng (caru) này đã được chú nguyện bằng thần chú, do phu quân nàng ban cho—xin hãy trao nó cho ta. Và nàng hãy nhận lấy phần caru của ta để đổi lại.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores that ritually consecrated items (like a mantra-sanctified caru) carry moral and religious significance; handling or exchanging them implicates dharma—rightful possession, proper intention, and respect for sacrificial integrity.
Bhishma addresses a woman (honorifically) and asks her to give him the caru that her husband has given her, offering his own caru for her to take instead—an exchange of consecrated offerings within a ritual or vow-related context.
