मातङ्ग–शक्रसंवादः

Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities

मात्रा पित्रा सुतैदरिर्विमुक्तस्य धनेन वा । न भवेद्धि तथा दुःख यथा गड़ावियोगजम्‌

mātṛā pitrā sutair dārair vimuktasya dhanena vā | na bhaved dhi tathā duḥkhaṃ yathā gaṅgā-viyogajam ||

Vị Siddha nói: Dẫu phải lìa xa mẹ, cha, con cái, vợ, hay của cải, nỗi khổ ấy cũng không lớn bằng nỗi khổ do xa cách sông Hằng. Câu kệ tôn vinh lòng sùng kính đối với dòng sông thiêng như nơi nương tựa tối thượng: mất mát thế gian khiến đau buồn, nhưng mất sự tiếp xúc với nguồn thanh tẩy và chỗ nâng đỡ dharma mới là thiếu thốn sâu xa nhất.

Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that attachment to and reliance upon a sacred, purifying dharmic support (the Gaṅgā) can surpass worldly bonds; separation from such a holy refuge is depicted as more painful than losing family or wealth, underscoring the primacy of spiritual orientation over material security.

A Siddha (accomplished sage) is speaking, praising the Gaṅgā’s spiritual significance. By comparing ordinary bereavements with ‘Gaṅgā-separation,’ he instructs listeners to value proximity, faith, and devotion to the sacred river as a central dharmic good.
