Tīrtha-vaṃśa Upadeśa: Instruction on the Fruits of Sacred Waters
prapāṇāṁ ca sabhānāṁ ca saṅkramāṇāṁ ca bhārata | agārāṇāṁ ca bhettāro narā nirayagāminaḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: Hỡi Bharata, kẻ nào phá hoại nơi nước uống công cộng, hội đường, cầu và chỗ qua sông, lại còn đột nhập hay tàn phá nhà cửa của người khác—những kẻ ấy ắt hẳn bị đọa địa ngục.
भीष्म उवाच
Destroying public utilities (water stations, halls, bridges/crossings) and violating homes is a serious breach of dharma; such acts harm the community’s safety and sustenance and therefore lead to severe karmic retribution, described here as going to niraya (hell).
In the Anushasana Parva, Bhishma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on righteous conduct and the consequences of wrongdoing. In this verse he lists specific destructive acts against communal and domestic spaces and declares their perpetrators to be destined for hell.
