Aṣṭāvakra’s Visit to Kubera: Hospitality, Temptation, and the Ethics of Restraint (अष्टावक्र-वैश्रवणोपाख्यानम्)
भविष्यथ विश क्षिप्रं द्रष्टासि पितरं क्षये । माताकी बात सुनकर मैं पिताके दर्शनसे निराश हो गया और मनको संयममें रखकर महादेवजीकी आराधना करके उनका दर्शन किया। उस समय वे मुझसे बोले--“वत्स! तुम्हारे पिता
bhaviṣyatha viśa kṣipraṃ draṣṭāsi pitaraṃ kṣaye |
Gālava nói: “Chẳng bao lâu nữa, khi nỗi tuyệt vọng của ngươi chấm dứt, ngươi sẽ được thấy cha mình.” Nghe lời ấy, ta dứt bỏ sự tuyệt vọng về việc gặp cha, nhiếp tâm, thờ phụng Mahādeva cho đến khi được diện kiến. Bấy giờ Đức Chúa phán với ta: “Này con, cha con, mẹ con và chính con—cả ba—sẽ thoát khỏi tử vong. Nay hãy mau trở về nhà; tại đó con sẽ được thấy cha.” Được Bhagavān Śiva cho phép, ta trở về nhà, cử hành một lễ tế, rồi thấy cha ta bước ra khỏi yajña-śālā, tay mang củi tế (samidhā), cỏ kuśa, cùng những trái chín và các phẩm vật cúng dường khác tự rơi xuống từ cây.
