Vaiśampāyana nói: Tâu đại vương, từ vùng đầu của Bhīṣma hiện ra một vật như một bó đuốc lớn rực cháy—một điềm sáng rực mà ghê gớm, báo hiệu sự nghiêm trọng của khoảnh khắc ấy và trạng thái phi thường của bậc tổ phụ khi nằm trên giường tên.
