कीर्तितान् कीर्तयिष्यामि सर्वपापप्रमोचनान् । देवताओंके अनन्तर समस्त पापोंसे मुक्त करनेवाले तपस्यामें बढ़े-चढ़े तपःसिद्ध ब्रह्मर्षियोंके प्र्यात नाम बतलाता हूँ
Bhīṣma uvāca — kīrtitān kīrtayiṣyāmi sarva-pāpa-pramocanān | devatābhyaḥ anantaram samasta-pāpebhyo mukta-karaṇe tapasyāṁ baḍhe-caḍhe tapaḥ-siddhān brahmarṣīṇāṁ priyān nāmāni kathayāmi ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Nay ta sẽ xướng lại những danh hiệu đã được tán dương—những danh hiệu có thể giải trừ mọi tội lỗi. Sau chư thiên, ta sẽ kể cho ngươi những danh hiệu đáng kính của các Brahmarishi: những bậc hiền triết thành tựu nhờ khổ hạnh (tapas), vượt trội trong tapas, và có năng lực giải thoát khỏi mọi tội.”
