न जातु त्वमिति ब्रूयादापन्नो5पि महत्तरम् | त्वंकारो वा वधो वेति विद्वत्सु न विशिष्यते
na jātu tvam iti brūyād āpanno 'pi mahattaram | tvaṃkāro vā vadho veti vidvatsu na viśiṣyate, yudhiṣṭhira |
Bhīṣma nói: “Hỡi Yudhiṣṭhira, dù bị dồn vào tai ương lớn nhất, con cũng chớ gọi bậc tôn trưởng bằng lối xưng hô suồng sã ‘tvam’ (‘mày/mi’). Với người trí, sự vô lễ ấy chẳng khác gì gây thương tổn—nặng nề thay tội xúc phạm kẻ đáng kính.”
