Rudra-Śiva: Names, Two Natures, and the Logic of Epithets

Educational Q&A

A seeker of liberation should not form attachment even to the minimal supports of ascetic life—dwelling, water, clothing, seat, staff, bed, fire, or shelter. True renunciation is inward: freedom from possessiveness and dependence, not merely changing external lifestyle.

Śrī Maheśvara is instructing about the conduct of a mokṣa-seeker within the Anuśāsana Parva’s ethical and spiritual teachings, emphasizing detachment as a prerequisite for liberation.
