नित्योपलेपनं धर्मस्तथा नित्योपवासिता । पति और पत्नीका स्वभाव एक-सा होना चाहिये। यह गृहस्थका धर्म है। घरके देवताओंकी प्रतिदिन पुष्पोंद्वारा पूजा करना, उन्हें अन्नकी बलि समर्पित करना, रोज-रोज घर लीपना और प्रतिदिन व्रत रखना भी गृहस्थका धर्म है ।।
nityopalepanaṁ dharmas tathā nityopavāsitā | susammṛṣṭopalipte ca sājya-dhūmo bhaved gṛhe ||
Śrī Maheśvara nói: “Đối với người gia chủ, bổn phận là thường xuyên trát, quét dọn và thanh tịnh hóa ngôi nhà, và giữ việc trai giới hay những lời nguyện kỷ luật một cách đều đặn. Trong một ngôi nhà đã được quét sạch và trát mới, nên dâng các lễ hiến với bơ sữa (ghee) để làn khói thanh tẩy lan tỏa khắp nhà. Đây được tuyên là gia chủ-dharma của Bà-la-môn—có sức hộ trì thế gian—và luôn được duy trì trong nhà của những người hiền đức.”
