Adhyāya 142: Cyavana, the Devas’ Arrogance, and Vāyu’s Counsel on Protecting Brāhmaṇas

राजर्षि मदिराश्व अपनी सुन्दरी कन्या विप्रवर हिरण्यहस्तको देकर देवताओंके लोकमें चले गये ।।

bhīṣma uvāca | lomapādaś ca rājarṣiḥ śāntāṃ dattvā sutāṃ prabhuḥ | ṛṣyaśṛṅgāya vipulaiḥ sarvaiḥ kāmair ayujyata ||

Bhīṣma nói: Vị vương hiền Lomapada, bậc chúa tể đầy uy lực, đã gả con gái mình là Śāntā cho bậc Bà-la-môn hiền triết lỗi lạc Ṛṣyaśṛṅga. Nhờ hành vi đúng pháp ấy—dâng con gái cho một bậc khổ hạnh xứng đáng—Lomapada được kết hợp với phú quý dồi dào và mọi mục tiêu đều thành tựu; cho thấy việc tôn kính đức hạnh và nâng đỡ sự xuất chúng tâm linh đem lại cả lợi ích thế tục lẫn công đức đạo lý.
