Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
तमहं प्राउ्जलिर्भूत्वा मृगपक्षिष्वथाग्निषु । धर्मे च शिष्यवर्गे च समपृच्छमनामयम्,तब मैंने हाथ जोड़कर आश्रमके मृग, पक्षी, अग्निहोत्र, धर्मांचरण तथा शिष्यवर्गका कुशल-समाचार पूछा
tam ahaṁ prāñjalir bhūtvā mṛgapakṣiṣv athāgniṣu | dharme ca śiṣyavarge ca samapṛccham anāmayam ||
Bấy giờ, chắp tay cung kính, ta hỏi thăm sự an ổn của đạo tràng: đàn nai và chim muông nơi am thất, các ngọn lửa thiêng của lễ Agnihotra, việc hành trì dharma, cùng chúng đệ tử—rằng mọi sự có được vô bệnh, vô nhiễu loạn chăng.

Vāsudeva, approaching in humility with folded hands, asks after the welfare of the hermitage: whether the animals and birds are safe, the sacred fires are properly maintained, dharma is being observed, and the disciples are doing well.
