Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
को हि तत्त्वेन तद् वेद ईशस्य चरितं शुभम् । कृतवान् यानि रूपाणि देवदेव: पुरा किल | क्रीडते च तथा शर्व: प्रसीदति यथा च वै
ko hi tattvena tad veda īśasya caritaṁ śubham | kṛtavān yāni rūpāṇi devadevaḥ purā kila || krīḍate ca tathā śarvaḥ prasīdati yathā ca vai |
Vāsudeva nói: Ai có thể biết đúng như thật những công hạnh cát tường và huyền nhiệm của Đấng Tự Tại—rằng thuở xa xưa, Thần của các thần, Mahādeva, đã từng mang những hình tướng nào? Và ai có thể hiểu được Śarva (Śiva) vui đùa trong cuộc hí lộng thần linh ra sao, và bằng cách nào Ngài hoan hỷ? Bài kệ nêu rõ giới hạn của trí người trước thần tính, khuyên ta khiêm cung và chí thành kính ngưỡng, chứ đừng tự phụ quả quyết.
