Viṣṇu-sahasranāma—Yudhiṣṭhira’s Inquiry and Bhīṣma’s Recitation (विष्णोर्नामसहस्रम्)
मनुष्यका किया हुआ कोई भी पुण्य तथा पाप भोगके बिना नष्ट नहीं होता। पर्वकालमें जो कुछ भी दान किया जाता है, वह सब सूर्यदेवके पास पहुँचता है ।।
preta-lokaṁ gate martye tat tat sarvaṁ vibhāvasuḥ | pratijānāti puṇyātmā tac ca tatropayujyate ||
Diêm Vương nói: “Không một công đức hay tội lỗi nào do con người gây tạo lại tiêu mất khi chưa được thọ nhận. Vào những kỳ lễ theo mùa, mọi vật được bố thí đều đến với Thần Mặt Trời. Khi một người đã sang cõi của kẻ đã khuất, Mặt Trời—Vibhāvasu—sẽ ghi nhận và trao lại nơi ấy, đúng theo phép, những gì đã dâng cúng trong các dịp thiêng liêng. Vì thế, không hành vi nào bị mất; mỗi việc đều đi đến quả báo thích đáng.”
