यत्‌ ते भृशतरं दानाद्‌ वर्तयिष्यामि तच्छुणु

yat te bhṛśataraṃ dānād vartayiṣyāmi tac chṛṇu | astu, adhunāhaṃ dānād api uttamaṃ dharmaṃ tava varṇayiṣyāmi, śṛṇu | asmin jagati yāvanti śāstrāṇi yāś ca pravṛttayaḥ santi, tāḥ sarvā vedam eva puraskṛtya kramataḥ pracalitāḥ |

Bhishma nói: “Hãy nghe điều ta sẽ giảng cho ngươi bây giờ—một điều còn cao quý hơn cả bố thí. Được: ta sẽ nói về một dharma vượt trên việc cho đi. Trong thế gian này, mọi kinh điển và mọi nề nếp hành xử đã lần lượt phát sinh và lưu truyền, lấy Veda làm chuẩn mực dẫn đường.”
