Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the fruit of meritorious conduct: a state beyond suffering (vigatajvara) and the enjoyment of heavenly happiness, implying that ethical living and dharmic merit culminate in peace and delight after death.

Bhīṣma continues a description of the posthumous reward in a heavenly realm: the person being spoken of is depicted as free from distress and delighting there in the company of excellent celestial women.
