वयःस्थां च महाप्राज्ञ: कन्यामावोदुम्ति । जो श्रेष्ठ कुलमें उत्पन्न हुई हो

Transliteration

vayaḥsthāṃ ca mahāprājñaḥ kanyām āvodum icchati | yo śreṣṭha-kule utpannā bhavet uttama-lakṣaṇaiḥ praśaṃsitā ca vivāha-yogyām avasthāṃ prāptā | tādṛśīṃ sulakṣaṇāṃ kanyāṃ saha śreṣṭha-buddhimān puruṣo vivāhayet ||

Translation

Bhīṣma dạy rằng: người thật sự trí tuệ nên tìm một thiếu nữ đã đến tuổi thích hợp để kết hôn—sinh trong gia tộc đáng trọng, được khen ngợi vì đức hạnh và tướng tốt cát tường—rồi cưới nàng. Trọng tâm đạo lý là chọn bạn đời có sự trưởng thành, phẩm hạnh và trách nhiệm xã hội, để đời sống gia thất vận hành đúng theo dharma.
