Gautama–Śakra Saṃvāda: Karma, Loka-bheda, and the Restoration of the Elephant
शतक्रतुने कहा--विप्रवर! आपका पुत्रस्वरूप यह हाथी आपहीकी ओर देखता हुआ आ रहा है और पास आकर आपके दोनों चरणोंको अपनी नासिकासे सूँघता है। अब आप मेरा कल्याण-चिंतन कीजिये, आपको नमस्कार है ।।

śivaṃ sadaiveha surendra tubhyaṃ dhyāyāmi pūjāṃ ca sadā prayuñje |
mamāpi tvaṃ śakra śivaṃ dadasva tvayā dattaṃ pratigṛhṇāmi nāgam ||
Śatakratu nói: “Hỡi bậc Bà-la-môn tôn quý! Con voi mang hình hài con trai ngươi đang tiến đến, hướng mắt về ngươi; và khi lại gần, nó dùng vòi khẽ ngửi đôi chân ngươi. Nay xin ngươi nghĩ đến điều lành cho ta; ta xin đảnh lễ.” Gautama nói: “Hỡi Surendra! Ở đây ta luôn tưởng niệm điều lành cho ngươi và hằng dâng lễ cúng kính ngươi. Hỡi Śakra, hãy ban điều lành cho ta nữa. Ta xin nhận con voi này do ngươi trao.”
