Cyavana’s Birth and Bhṛgu’s Curse upon Agni (च्यवनजन्म तथा अग्निशापः)
स एव च्यवनो जज्ञे भृगो: पुत्र: प्रतापवान् । त॑ं ददर्श पिता तत्र च्यवनं तां च भामिनीम् । स पुलोमां ततो भार्या पप्रच्छ कुपितो भृगु:,इस प्रकार भृगुपुत्र प्रतापी च्यवनका जन्म हुआ। तदनन्तर पिता भृगुने वहाँ अपने पुत्र च्यवन तथा पत्नी पुलोमाको देखा और सब बातें जानकर उन्होंने अपनी भार्या पुलोमासे कुपित होकर पूछा--
sa eva cyavano jajñe bhṛgoḥ putraḥ pratāpavān | taṃ dadarśa pitā tatra cyavanaṃ tāṃ ca bhāminīm | sa pulomāṃ tato bhāryā papraccha kupito bhṛguḥ |
Thế rồi Cyavana, người con lẫy lừng của Bhṛgu, ra đời. Sau đó, Bhṛgu—người cha—trông thấy tại nơi ấy cả Cyavana lẫn người đàn bà Pulomā. Nổi giận, Bhṛgu tra hỏi vợ mình Pulomā, đòi nàng thuật lại mọi điều đã xảy ra.
