Āstīka’s Commission and Approach to Janamejaya’s Sarpa-satra (आस्तीक-प्रेषणं यज्ञप्रवेशोपक्रमश्च)
न बुबोध च तं राजा मौनव्रतधरं मुनिम् । सतं क्रोधसमाविष्टो धर्षबामास ते पिता,राजाको यह पता नहीं था कि महर्षि मौनव्रतधारी हैं; अतः क्रोधमें भरे हुए आपके पिताने उनका तिरस्कार कर दिया
na bubodha ca taṃ rājā maunavratadharaṃ munim | sataṃ krodhasamāviṣṭo dharṣayāmāsa te pitā ||
Nhà vua không biết vị ẩn sĩ ấy đang giữ giới nguyện im lặng. Bị cơn giận xâm chiếm, phụ vương của ngươi đã khinh mạn bậc tu sĩ hiền thiện ấy.
जनमेजय उवाच
Anger coupled with lack of discernment leads to adharma: one must restrain krodha and show due respect to ascetics, especially when their conduct (like silence) may be misunderstood.
Janamejaya recounts that the king failed to realize the sage was under a vow of silence; taking the silence wrongly and becoming angry, the king (Janamejaya’s father) insulted the muni, setting the stage for ensuing consequences.
