Vālakhilya-Tapas and the Birth of Garuḍa (वालखिल्यतपः-गरुडोत्पत्तिः)
त॑ द्वीपं मकरावासं विहितं विश्वकर्मणा । तत्र ते लवणं घोरं ददृशु: पूर्वमागता:,विश्वकर्माजीके बनाये हुए उस द्वीपमें, जहाँ अब मगर निवास करते थे, जब पहली बार नाग आये थे तो उन्हें वहाँ भयंकर लवणासुरका दर्शन हुआ था
taṁ dvīpaṁ makarāvāsaṁ vihitaṁ viśvakarmaṇā | tatra te lavaṇaṁ ghoraṁ dadṛśuḥ pūrvam āgatāḥ ||
Hòn đảo ấy—do Viśvakarman tạo tác, về sau thành nơi cư trú của loài makara—chính là nơi mà các Nāga, trong lần đầu đặt chân tới, đã trông thấy Lavaṇa đáng sợ (ác quỷ của muối). Câu này nhắc rằng một cõi đất tưởng như được dựng nên hoàn mỹ vẫn có thể che giấu hiểm họa; vì thế cần tỉnh giác và hành xử thận trọng, chớ tự mãn mà lơ là.
