समन्तपञ्चक-आख्यानम् तथा अक्षौहिणी-प्रमाणनिर्णयः

Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī

यज्ञे विभूतिं तां दृष्टवा दुःखामर्षान्वितस्य च | दुर्योधनस्यावहासो भीमेन च सभातले,यज्ञमें पाण्डवोंका यह वैभव देखकर दुर्योधन दुःख और ईरष्यासे मन-ही-मनमें जलने लगा। इसी प्रसंगमें सभाभवनके सामने समतल भूमिपर भीमसेनने उसका उपहास किया

yajñe vibhūtiṁ tāṁ dṛṣṭvā duḥkhāmarṣānvitasyaca | duryodhanasyāvahāso bhīmena ca sabhātale ||

“Thấy cảnh phú quý huy hoàng của các Pāṇḍava phô bày trong lễ tế, Duryodhana bị nỗi buồn và lòng ghen tức thiêu đốt trong lòng. Và cũng trong mạch ấy, trên nền đất bằng trước đại sảnh, Bhīmasena đã chế nhạo hắn.” Sự việc ấy khoét sâu thù hận và báo trước sự suy sụp đạo lý do đố kỵ và tự ái bị tổn thương.
