Suta Goswami (narrating Shaiva discipline as taught in the Purva-Bhaga context)
It defines the inner qualifications that make Linga-pūjā fruitful: the worshipper guards the mind with kṣamā, dhṛti, ahiṃsā, and vairāgya, and becomes steady in samatā (equanimity), which supports true devotion to Pati (Shiva) beyond ego.
By prescribing equality toward honor and dishonor, it aligns the pashu (bound soul) with Shiva-tattva’s impartiality and freedom from pasha (bondage) born of ego, praise, blame, and reactive emotion.
Pāśupata-oriented yogic restraint: cultivating ahiṃsā and vairāgya, and practicing mānāvamāna-samatā as an inner āvaraṇa (shield) that stabilizes japa, dhyāna, and Linga-sevā.
