गौरिन्मिमाय सलिलानि तक्षत्येकपदी द्विपदी सा चतुष्पदी । अष्टापदी नवपदी बभूवुषी सहस्राक्षरा भुवनस्य पङ्क्तिस्तस्याः समुद्रा अधि वि क्षरन्ति

IAST Transliteration

gauríḥ mimā́ya salilā́ni tákṣaty ékapadī dvipádī sā́ cátuṣpadī | aṣṭā́padī návapadī babhūvúṣī sahásrākṣarā́ bhúvanasya paṅktís tasyā́ḥ samudrā́ ádhi ví kṣaranti

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

The Bright One hath measured out the waters; she, the Artificer, doth fashion them: one-footed, two-footed, she—four-footed; eight-footed, nine-footed hath she become, a thousand-syllabled Paṅkti of the world. Upon her the oceans, spreading, pour themselves abroad.

Translation

Đấng Rực Sáng đã đo định các dòng nước; nàng, bậc thợ tạo tác, nhào nặn chúng: một chân, hai chân—nàng thành bốn chân; rồi thành tám chân, chín chân—trở nên hàng Paṅkti nghìn âm tiết của thế gian. Trên nàng, các đại dương trải rộng, tuôn tràn và đổ ra khắp nơi.
