It imparts Sadācāra-vidyā—practical ethics—by listing core virtues (non-envy, compassion, patience, purity, generosity, and valor) to be cultivated for dharmic living and governance.
Alongside ritual, polity, and other sciences, the Agni Purana also codifies moral psychology and social conduct; this verse functions like a concise ethical manual embedded within its broader compendium.
Cultivating these virtues purifies intention and action, supporting righteous karma (dharma) and reducing envy, anger, and impurity—key causes of bondage and social harm.
