īśvara uvāca | śṛṇu devi pravakṣyāmi dāmodarahariṃ prati | itihāsaṃ purākhyātamṛṣibhiḥ kalpavāsibhiḥ
Īśvara (Śiva)
Tirtha: Dāmodara-Hari (within Vastrāpatha-kṣetra)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Devī (Pārvatī)
Scene: Īśvara turns to Devī with a teaching gesture, as if opening a scroll of ancient lore; behind them, sages in the background symbolize the kalpa-spanning transmission.
Tīrtha-glories are preserved through a sacred lineage of seers; hearing (śravaṇa) such accounts is itself a devotional act.
Vastrāpatha-kṣetra (context), through an itihāsa centered on Dāmodara-Hari.
Implicitly, attentive listening to the māhātmya (śravaṇa) is encouraged; no explicit rite is stated.
