durllabhaṃ tu mama kṣetraṃ prabhāsaṃ devi pāpinām | na tatra labhate mṛtyuṃ pāpātmā lokavaṃdite
Śiva (addressing Devī/Pārvatī)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Devī (Pārvatī)
Scene: Śiva speaks to Devī about Prabhāsa’s rarity for sinners: a pilgrim blocked by inner darkness stands at the kṣetra boundary, while another purified pilgrim enters; the kṣetra glows, suggesting merit as the key.
Access to the liberating power of a kṣetra is itself a form of grace; persistent sin obstructs even the opportunity to die within such a sacred boundary.
Prabhāsakṣetra (Somnath/Prabhāsa), called Śiva’s own kṣetra.
No direct prescription; it implies the need for purification and merit to gain entry and the auspicious end within Prabhāsa.
